As many of you know, I teach at a year round school. That means I teach the same amount of classroom hours as other teachers, however, our school day is a little longer which means we seem to have more time off than a traditional schedule. Right now I am in my last few days of being “off-track”. We work 4 months then have two months off, then another four on and another 2 off. Not bad right? It’s great except that this time I brought a little work home that I’ve yet to do. I mean, having my fiance here, traveling a couple of times, getting married, etc…no excuse for procrastinating right?
I thought I’d share a few funny lines from the first batch of persuasive letters that I’m grading.
“Dear Mr. Roe v. Wade” (Explains itself)
“He has only been at our school for 2 months and already he has kids doing drugs” (in reference to an interview the student did with our principal. She meant to express that in only 2 months at the school, he has caught a number of kids doing drugs).
“I see people selling drugs, taggin, and drinking through my bedroom” (What this student means is that gangs are a problem in his neighborhood and when he looks out of his window, this is the scene. It sounds like the neighborhood is doing all that stuff IN this kids room
)
