Fellow Teacher in Need…

I am part of an exciting project this summer, opening a BRAND NEW school.  One of my new colleagues and fellow English teacher has a question she would love all of your input on.

Please share your ideas in the comments. THANKS!

Hi Everyone!
Since I am new to high school, I was wondering if I could get some
help from those of you who have taught high school for a few years…
One of my discussion questions for a secondary methods class I am
taking asks:  According to research, what are the most powerful
influences on secondary students today and how have those influences
changed over the last few years?
Note:  The influences are probably the same as middle school i.e. the
media and technology but I thought if anyone had a unique insight, a
quick blurb, or an article they know off hand I can refer to that
would help me out tons!
Thanks so much in advance for your time and generosity of spirit!

  1. Research says that THE most important factor in the success of a school, class, and student is the TEACHER that they have. Which is kind of scary. Since we don’t pay them much and the best don’t always feel compelled to join this very difficult profession.
