What’s Up…

My blogging sucks lately. I do apologize.

What’s new?

Today: Saw old scraggley looking man in a gray wool trench coat, no socks, couldn’t see shorts, just coat, leg, and unshaven.  Could there be a flasher in my neighborhood? YES! I do live in Hollywood.

School is still good, but I do have a couple complaints. Like? Why would the district think a small copier that doesn’t punch holes or staple would be adequate for something like 20 teachers to share? !  UGH!

Sharing faculty bathroom with the men and women of my half of the floor means I have to use paper towels to wipe splatters and put the seat down. COME ON GUYS!  At least one of the guys bought us Febreeze for stinky days.

I love having an LCD projector!  Charting on the wall while typing is just freaking awesome!  Now if only they could fix the internet connection at my desk so I could play the Brain Pop video I wanted to play today :(

I love 82 minute classes but when I need a sub…UGH…82 minutes is a lot when I’m not there.  I have a lame training this Thursday and then need to get a sub for the second day of Rosh Hashanah.

Speaking of Rosh Hashanah, Avi and I have been asked to take an honor the second day of Rosh Hashanah. I believe we will be dressing and lifting the Torah; well Avi is lifting, I’m dressing.

This Shabbat our shul is doing a GREEN Shabbat. Totally looking forward to that.

  1. What’s a green Shabbat? That’s a new one to me…

  2. Hi Babka,

    Here’s what Green Shabbat is:

CAN WE ACHIEVE TRUE RENEWAL DURING HIGH HOLIDAYS IF WE ARE ALLOWING OUR WORLD TO FALL INTO DISREPAIR?

GREEN SHABBAT will help us approach the renewal and rebirth of the High Holidays in a more holy way- by committing ourselves to healing and sustaining the environment.

At the conclusion of Shabbat services on Sept. 20th, David Nahai, General Manager of LADWP and recipient of many environmental awards, will address all three minyanim in the Main Sanctuary. Afterwards, he will be joined by Rabbi Rembaum and other leaders from the Jewish and environmental community, including TREEPEOPLE and COEJL, in a panel discussion during lunch in the main ballroom.

A delicious vegetarian kosher meal using environmentally-friendly foods and products will be served while questions are taken. Displays of products, reading materials, how-to information, and other resources will be available to aid the greening of your home, work, school, and soul.

Mr. Nahai’s address is open to all. You must RSVP by this Tuesday, September 16th, to reserve your place at the lunch discussion ($12). CLICK HERE TO RSVP.

We look forward to sharing this Shabbat with you.

  3. Just make sure the good stuff outweighs the bad and you’ll be fine.

  4. What is a green shabbes? It sounds interesting! Fortunately I don’t have to share the facilities with men, pfew! As for the copier, we also have a lowsy one, and my colleagues NEVER fill the empty paper drawer so I always end up shlepping with piles of paper through the hallway.

Gut shabbes and enjoy your weekend!
