52 Hikes, 52 Weeks

Avi and I made ourselves a fun goal for the year: 52 hikes in 52 weeks. I’ll be trying to add more to this page as time goes on.  A hike, by our definition is on a trail or fire road, is more than one mile, and something out in nature. Although I do enjoy city walks too, for the sake of our goal we aren’t calling those “hikes”.

I will also be blog posting many of the hikes and excursions on my main page. Say hi when you visit there :)

Hike #1
Franklin Canyon
Beverly Hills, in the hills

Hike #2
Lower Observatory Trail
Griffith Park, Los Feliz

Hike #3
Hollyridge Trail
Hollywood Hills, Hollywood

Hike #4
Surtevant Falls
Angeles National Forest, Arcadia
April 2, 2008

Hike #5
Vetter Mountain Trail
Angeles National Forest
April 6, 2008

Hike #6
Paradise Falls
Thousand Oaks
April 10, 2008

Hike #7
Big Bear Lake Interpretive Trail
Big Bear Lake
April 2008

Hike #8
This is pathetic, almost 7 months since we’ve taken an official hike.   Sure, we’ve done a handful of city walks, long ones even, but I haven’t put those here. Perhaps I should be adding those if I want to meet this goal :)

Big Dalton Dam Trail
Glendora, CA
December 6, 2008

Keep an eye out for more to come.

  1. I stumbled upon this site while trying to figure out creative ways to teach etymology to my students. What a fabulous blog you have here… so glad to have found it. I’m a first year English teacher down in New Orleans… please feel free to drop me a line anytime!

Kudos to another teacher fighting the fight!
